Bethany Bower
Assistant Director Yates Field House, Director of Aquatics/Safety
Bethany received her B.A. from Hartwick College (Oneonta, NY) in 1984 and M.Ed in Sports Management from Springfield College (Springfield, MA) in 1989. She has been working at Yates Field House since 1994, and became full time Director of Aquatics in January of 2007.
Bower served as the the head men's and women's head coach at Georgetown from 1994-2006. Prior to Georgetown, she served as the assistant women's swimming coach at the U.S. Naval Academy. While coaching, she served as a physical education instructor, as well as achieving the rank of lieutenant, and was awarded the Navy Achievement medal for Excellence.
During her college years Bower was an eight time NCAA All-America and three time NAIA All-America. Bower was the NAIA national national champion in the 50 and 100 yards freestyles as a freshman.
In 2002 Bower was inducted to the Harwick College Athletic Hall of Fame.
She is a certified Red Cross instructor in Lifeguard, Waterfront and CPR. Bethany is a native of Northampton, MA. She lives in Alexandria, VA with her husband Brad.
