Philosophy of Competition
The Intramural sports program at Georgetown University is intended to provide students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends with an opportunity to compete within a framework designed for fun and fitness. Intramural play should foster a sense of sportsmanship and an atmosphere of teamwork. Winning is a goal but not an end.
Within that broad framework the Intramural sports department takes a great deal of pride in offering each participant a quality program. We do our best to provide top quality equipment, well trained officials and adequate facilities. This allows each contest to be conducted with the highest degree of professionalism possible.
Our goal is to provide a competitive atmosphere that fosters sportsmanship. To reach hat end we encourage all forms of input from our competitors. Constructive criticism allows us to provide a positive experience for all of our participants. At the same time, we must consider the entire University community. This department must take into consideration our role within the University, as well as the safety of our participants.
In the end, the success of our programs depends on the satisfaction of our contestants. The calendar of events is plentiful, so, come join the fun!
