Judo
Yates offers a Judo program for both beginners and advanced levels. Class instruction is available to males and females regardless of age or experience. Non-members must present a Judo pass at the front desk each visit (passes are acquired in the Yates Main Office during Business Hours).
The class emphasizes individual mastery of a variety of techniques including: breaking one's fall, maintaining balance, developing skill, coordination, strength, and speed as a necessary foundation for the study of throwing, holding, and allied techniques.
The course is taught by World Class instructors and competitors including James Takemori, Tsuyoshi Miyazaki, Tad Nalls and Roy Englert.
A basic course in self-defense is included in the beginner's class.
Students: $40 per session
Yates Members: $55 per session
Non-members: $165 per session
Please note that a "session" is Fall, Spring, or Summer.
Karate
Georgetown University's Shotokan Karate Club meets Wednesdays at 6:30pm on Racquetball Court #3 and Saturdays at noon in the Dance/Exercise Room. The cost is $40 per semester for students and $55 per semester for non-student Yates Field House members.
