Eligibility
Eligibility
All current student, faculty, staff, alumni, friend or employee members of the Yates Field House are eligible to participate in the Intramural program. Guests may not participate in intramural contests.
To participate in an intramural contest Yates members must become team members. This occurs when an individual is placed on an Intramural roster. Each player on every team must be listed on the Intramural team roster to participate. Players may be added at any time during the regular season. New players may not join a team once the regular season ends. If the sport consists of only tournament play, rosters must be finalized before semi-final games.
Players may compete in up to two teams during an intramural season, provided one of those teams is in a Coed division. Participation in a scheduled game prevents one from participating on any other team for the remainder of the season in that sport. A player may not play for any other team if his/her team has forfeited from the league. However, Resident Assistants may play with their dorm floor and with an Undergraduate or Open league team.
Questions on the eligibility of any player should be brought to the attention of the Intramural Supervisor on duty immediately. The Supervisor will check the identity of the individual with the team roster. If that individual is not on the roster the team forfeits the game and the team captain will face further disciplinary action. Players participating under an assumed name will also face disciplinary action.
Ineligibility
In a given academic year, members of intercollegiate teams are ineligible to participate on an intramural team in their respective sports. Team members shall be defined as any individual participating in regular practice sessions or having participated in any intercollegiate contest. A red-shirted player is considered a team member.
Club sports players are eligible to compete in their respective intramural events. However, the Intramural Office may place a limit on the number of club players that can compete on the same intramural roster. This decision is left to the discretion of the directors and will depend on the event.
Any player participating on more than one team or participating under an assumed name will be referred to the Intramural Director for appropriate disciplinary action. Any team found using an ineligible player shall forfeit all games in which that individual participated and be removed from further competition. Players ejected from any intramural contest for any reason will be suspended from intramural activity pending a meeting with the Director.
The Director reserves the right to put into immediate effect any new policy regarding eligibility.
