Captain's Responsibilities & Fees

Team Captain

Each intramural team is represented by a team captain.  The captain is the liaison between the IM Office and team members.  Specific responsibilities of a team captain include:
 -- Online team registration
 -- Payment of registration fees
-- Attendance of intramural captains meeting (if one is scheduled)
-- Communication with teammates about rules, schedules, and intramural policies
-- Responsible for roster check-ins, team conduct, eligibility and forfeits
-- Responsible for knowing the intramural handbook and all policies and procedures
 -- Verifying team sportsmanship ratings

Captain's Meeting

The 'captains meeting' is a mandatory meeting of team captains for a given sport (not every event will have a captains meeting).  This meeting is held to communicate all essential information to team captains, including information on rules, schedules, rostering, eligibility and policies.

In case of conflict, captains may send a representative from their team to attend the captains meeting -- however, the captains themselves are ultimately responsible for all information presented at the meeting.  Captains that do NOT attend the mandatory captains meeting may have their team removed from the respective event.

Fees

Beginning in the 2009-2010 academic year, all intramural fees will be securely transacted online via credit or debit card.  Cash, check, and GOCard are no longer valid form of intramural payment.

Intramural fees include an entry fee (non-refundable) and a forfeit fee.  Both fees (entry & forfeit) are processed before play begins.  The forfeit fee can be refunded if a team completes the intramural event without a forfeit.  Fees eligible for refund will be credited to the appropriate credit/debit card at the conclusion of the intramural event.

Dorm Payment

Certain intramural teams may be eligible to pay intramural fees through the use of dorm funds.  In these situations, team captains should have their Hall Director contact the IM Office with the Team Name and the Residence Hall 'GD' number.  Hall Directors should contact Tim Smith at (202) 687-7894 or intramurals@georgetown.edu.
